CHAICHAI is the Jewish Coalition on Interpersonal Violence. It began in 1997 as a partnership between several committed lay activists and the volunteer department of Jewish Family Services. Initially, the CHAI program focused on increasing the awareness of domestic violence within the Jewish Community and the creation of a “helpline” to address the needs of women living in abusive relationships. While the “helpline” is no longer in operation, JFS continues to be very committed to providing services through direct case management, referrals and advocacy work. Current CHAI projects include:
