Jewish Family Services Presents CHAI: A Jewish Response to Interpersonal Violence 10th Anniversary Event

March 1, 2008

Jewish Family Services (JFS) is pleased to announce their CHAI: A Jewish Response to Interpersonal Violence luncheon in honor of the program’s tenth anniversary.  Amy Rubin, Director of Jewish Community Abuse Resources, Education and Solutions (JCARES), administered by Jewish Child and Family Services of Metro Chicago, will address issues of domestic violence and partner abuse, and present techniques to help individuals involved in abusive relationships.  The event costs $10 to attend and will be held at Congregation Shalom, 7630 N. Santa Monica Blvd. in Fox Point on Tuesday, April 8th from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and kosher food will be available. The event is open to the community.

Event speaker Amy Rubin has worked over two decades to create and implement abuse education, training and advocacy efforts in Chicago and communities around the country.  Ms. Rubin says that the CHAI event is “another step toward strengthening a collaborative effort that will support and influence initiatives and policies that prevent, address and respond to abuse in Jewish homes, families and relationships. I strongly believe that gathering individual strengths and building collaborative action is the most effective way to create institutional and cultural change.”

Through CHAI, JFS continues to be committed to providing services through direct case management, referrals and advocacy work, and violence prevention activities.  For more information or to RSVP for the luncheon, call Cheryl Holley at 414-225-1302.

Since 1867, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community.  Its primary objective is to provide supportive services that strengthen families, children and individuals throughout the life cycle within the context of their unique needs and traditions.
