Homes for Independent Living to Provide Staffing for JFS Exceptional Needs Clients

May 13, 2008

Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS) is pleased to announce their new preferred provider agreement with Homes for Independent Living of Wisconsin LLC (HIL).  The agreement with HIL will allow JFS to better serve participants in the Young Adults Independence Project (YAIP) of JFS’ Exceptional Needs Division. HIL will provide 24-7 residential support services to a number of YAIP program participants through developing individualized care plans to aid young adults in making the transition from their parent’s home to independent living.

Homes for Independent Living is an employee-owned company which has provided residential and associated support services to adults with disabilities since 1977.  With more than 100 programs located in ten Wisconsin counties, HIL is organized on a regional basis with each region having a director who has the ability to respond quickly to local situations.  JFS President and CEO, Sylvan Leabman says, “We are excited about the potential that this agreement presents, as it gives young adults the independence they desire, while in a safe and supervised living environment. JFS is grateful for the expertise of the HIL staff, who will help meet the specific needs of JFS’ Young Adults Independence Project participants, enabling them to gain greater autonomy.”

Since 1867, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community. In 2008 JFS was recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Southeastern Wisconsin by Milwaukee Magazine and The Management Association.  Its mission is to provide supportive services that strengthen families, children and individuals throughout the life cycle within the context of their unique needs and traditions.
