Jewish Family Services Recipient of Grant from Alliance for Children and Families' Project to Help Meet Needs of Older Adults in the CommunityFebruary 5, 2008
Milwaukee……Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS) received a $3,000 grant through the New Age of Aging project of the Alliance for Children and Families for their LinkAges’ older adult care management program. JFS was one of twenty-five agencies selected though a competitive national process to receive the grant as a part of the New Age of Aging five-year initiative designed to help prepare human service organizations throughout North America to best provide services for older adults as the vast baby boom generation ages. The five-year, $2.6 million project is funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies. The mini-grant will help support JFS’ LinkAges program. The grant provides funding to JFS to educate older adults and their families about issues surrounding aging. Sessions will address strategies to broach difficult subjects, including end of life wishes, driving and finances, information about how to navigate the aging system and available community options. “This grant enables JFS to help educate older adults and their families so they can make well-informed decisions for their future,” said Sylvan Leabman, President and CEO of Jewish Family Services. “We are grateful for the support that will help us better meet the needs of older adults in the community.” For more information about the LinkAges program, contact Gina Botshtein at 414-390-5800. Since 1867, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community. Its mission is to provide supportive services that strengthen families, children and individuals throughout the life cycle within the context of their unique needs and traditions. |
