Jewish Family Services Presents Six Critical Conversations Whose Body is it? Teaching Children How to Keep Their Body SafeApril 1, 2008
Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS) is pleased to announce the first session in the series Six Critical Conversations, Talking with Your Teen: “Whose body is it? Teaching Your Child How To Keep Their Body Safe”. The session will be facilitated by Jan Singer, MSW, LCSW, psychotherapist at the private practice of Life Adventure Therapies and social worker for SAGE/Milwaukee. The event will be held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on April 30th at the Radisson North Shore, 7065 N. Port Washington Road, in Milwaukee. Six Critical Conversations is free and open to the community and is sponsored by the Kennedy and Barnett Families. Six Critical Conversations is a program designed to guide and support parent-child communication and address vital issues relating to children and teens. Dr. Hirsh Larkey, PsyD, Vice President of Psychological Services at JFS indicates that “How to Keep Their Body Safe presents beneficial information to any individual concerned with the mental and physical well being of children. By actively teaching our children how to create healthy physical boundaries we can instill a sense of integrity in our children that will help protect them from many of life's challenges facing them everyday.” Since 1867, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community. In 2008 JFS was recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Southeastern Wisconsin by Milwaukee Magazine and The Management Association. Its mission is to provide supportive services that strengthen families, children and individuals throughout the life cycle within the context of their unique needs and traditions.
