Jewish Family Services Presents Six Critical Conversations: Talking With Your Child About Divorce.December 29, 2006 Six Critical Conversations: Talking with Your Children, a program of Jewish Family Services, Inc., is designed to guide and support parent-child communication and addresses vital issues relating to children and teens. The next topic, “Talking with Your Children About Divorce” will be led by JFS social workers Melanie Wasserman, MSW, LCSW, and Darcy McDaniel, MSSW on Tuesday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. at the Radisson North Shore, 7065 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale. The event is free and open to the community and is made possible by grants from the Helen Bader Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. As a licensed and accredited mental health clinic, JFS provides comprehensive and quality counseling services to individuals and families with various needs. JFS recently launched their Kids in the Middle® (KIM) program that is designed to support children whose parents are going through separation or divorce by using a group approach that enables children to share their thoughts and feelings with other kids going through similar family changes. JFS is a licensed affiliate of the KIM St. Louis program for Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha counties Dr. Hirsh Larkey, of JFS, indicates, Talking with Your Children about Divorce “presents beneficial information to any individual concerned with the mental and emotional well being of children in a divorce or separation situation. Our Kids in the Middle program provides the ongoing support children need to cope with this family transition." For almost 140 years, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community. Its primary objective is to enable clients to reach their maximum potential and lead fulfilled and rewarding lives. |
