Jewish Family Services Recipient of Grant from Hebrew Immigration Aid Society

Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS) has been awarded a $43,000 grant from the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society (HIAS) to begin a program under its Healthy Marriages Initiative.   Funding provides support for the first year of a five-year project that will address relationship issues for couples from the Former Soviet Union and the Former Yugoslavia. During the first year, JFS will provide classes and materials in English, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and Russian. Courses will focus on developing communication skills in a new cultural environment; parental communication as a role model for children, conflict resolution and potential financial challenges.

This is an extension of existing JFS services to new Americans. Receiving this grant from HIAS allows JFS to continue its commitment to offer services to immigrants and meet the needs of all individuals, couples and families during their life.

For almost 140 years, Jewish Family Services has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community.  Its primary objective is to enable clients to reach their maximum potential and lead fulfilled and rewarding lives.
