Jewish Family Services Begins Kids in the Middle® Program

Jewish Family Services began their Kids in the Middle® (KIM) program with their first group meeting of children this week.  KIM specializes in working with children whose parents are going through separation or divorce using a group approach that enables children to share their thoughts and feelings with other kids going through similar family changes.  KIM is designed to be responsive to the specific needs of the children rather than using a “cookie cutter” curriculum. Through discussion, games, books, art and play therapy, children learn to identify, understand and appropriately express their feelings.  Groups are ongoing rather than time-limited, so children receive all the time and attention they need.  President and CEO of JFS, Sylvan Leabman, said, “Jewish Family Services is committed to providing services that protect children of separating couples from becoming the rope in an emotional tug of war.  This program is an important addition to our Family Center which provides support and counseling for adults coping with conflict and divorce."

JFS, a licensed affiliate of KIM St. Louis, is the exclusive provider of the proven KIM program for Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha counties. As a licensed mental health clinic, JFS provides accessible and comfortable space for children and other groups with established policies and procedures to protect confidentiality.  Fee adjustments for Kids in the Middle sessions are available based on need.  For information on the program or to register your child for KIM  please call 414-390-5800.
