The Exceptional Needs program at Jewish Family Services assures that individuals with developmental disabilities and serious mental illness are given the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. Last year, more than 100 families received professional services through case management, conservatorship, and advocacy work. Our mission is to provide a continuum of services from preschool through the teenage years and into adulthood. Our exceptional needs children in preschool - 8th grade receive tutoring and assistance at area Jewish days schools and with Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation at synagogues. Whenever possible, we facilitate independent living for our adult clients and provide case management services. A comprehensive care management program supervised by JFS and funded by a trust set up by family members when a caregiver is deceased or unable to look after their loved one. Jewish Family Services is certified by the State of Wisconsin as an outpatient mental health clinic. Our experienced and qualified clinical and counseling staff is able to work with you independently or as a family. The Exceptional Needs Division has case managers who are trained to work specifically with clients who have developmental disabilities and severe/persistent mental illnesses. JFS provides a variety of social activities for its clients, including the weekly meeting of the Sandy Naimon Breakfast Club, holiday activities and meals. |
