Counseling and Psychotherapy ServicesServices include Family and Child Therapy, Couples/Marital Therapy, Individual Therapy, including treatment of depression, anxiety and managing life transitions, and a variety of support groups for issues ranging from coping issues and anger management to bereavement. AdoptionFrom the initial assessment and facilitation of the home study to post-adoption supportive services, our qualified JFS counselors will prepare you for the challenges of a domestic or overseas adoption in a safe and confidential atmosphere. Kids in the MiddleOur Kids in the Middle program helps children whose families are in transition due to separation, divorce or other types of conflict. The program's purpose is to provide a safe place where children can understand the changes in their families, express their feelings and learn how to cope. The Family CenterThe goal of counseling for couples in conflict is to support them in resolving their differences or to find healthy ways to form new family structures. Programs include Court-Mandated Divorce Class, Parent Communication Coaching, Divorce Mediation, Anger Management and Kids in the Middle. Late Life CounselingSpecial programs for homebound older adults coping with the challenges of aging, with a goal of helping them maintain their independence. The program is open to any adult, age 60 and older, who lives in Milwaukee County with physical and/or emotional problems which limits their ability to seek outpatient services. Because this service is funded by a grant from the Milwaukee County Office on Aging, no fee is charged. Donations are accepted and are used to expand the program. Student InternshipsThe agency is utilized for field work and/or practicum by a variety of educational institutions, including UW-Milwaukee Graduate School of Social Welfare; Alverno College, Wisconsin College of Psychology; Loyola University in Chicago and Mount Mary college. JFS personnel serve as supervisors, trainers and mentors for these students. Contact UsJFS is licensed as an outpatient mental health facility and insurance benefits may be applied to counseling services. Fee schedules and insurance reimbursement information is available.
