Awards Ceremony 2012

Winners of the 2012 Fighting Back Billboard Design Contest were announced at the award ceremony on Monday, May 19th at Centennial Hall.

The 10th annual ceremony honors middle and high school artists who created designs promoting the "Don't Drink, Don't Do Drugs" message. The winning first place design in each grade category will be displayed on billboards throughout Milwaukee this fall. Other selected artwork may be featured at City of Milwaukee Public Libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs and inside county buses. Every student who submitted artwork for the contest was invited to the ceremony and received a t-shirt and certificate for participating.

First, second and third place winners in each grade category were awarded a bicycle, bike helmet and a plaque. In addition, each first place winner received a $250 gift certificate, second place winners took home a $150 gift certificate, and third place winners were given a $50 gift certificate.

Fighting Back is a program of Jewish Family Services, an agency that has provided comprehensive social services to the Milwaukee area Jewish and general community since 1867. The mission of Fighting Back is to develop effective measurable strategies to counter alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in Milwaukee County. Fighting Back aims to reduce substance abuse and provides drug and alcohol-free lifestyle options for youth in the community.
