July 2025
John Yopps has officially resigned from his position as President and CEO of Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS). We thank John for his hard work, compassion, and dedication to JFS and its clients over the past nine years.
John writes: “In early July, I made the difficult decision to step down from my role as President and CEO of Jewish Family Services for deeply personal reasons. I am profoundly grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside passionate, committed, and talented colleagues at JFS and throughout our community.
I am indebted to the many dedicated employees, volunteers, donors, partners, and funders who supported me, our team, and the agency. Without their contributions, our mission would have remained just words on paper.
It has been a privilege to lead JFS, to serve both the Jewish and broader community, and to build meaningful, lasting relationships. I am confident that JFS is well-positioned to chart its future while remaining firmly rooted in the values that guide our work: Tikkun Olam, Chesed, and Tzedakah.
I remain committed to supporting a smooth transition and will work closely with leadership to help ensure the continuity and consistency of our programs and services.”
The JFS Board of Directors has appointed Dan Fleischman as Interim President and CEO. He will continue serving as Vice President of Housing at JFS and President of JFS Housing, Inc. Jenny Steinman Heyden has been named Interim Chief Operating Officer and will also continue as Vice President of Development and Communications. Joe Sykora remains Chief Financial Officer. The Board will soon convene a task force to begin the search for a permanent President and CEO.
JFS remains fully committed to its mission of supporting individuals and families in our community through high-quality mental health services, compassionate social services, and innovative housing solutions.
