Joan is a licensed psychologist with additional credentials in substance abuse therapy. She has been an administrator in mental health for the past 30 years including the Department of Corrections, Children’s Service Society and Ozaukee County Human Services. She has supervised over 100 intern and practicum students in various programs in the Milwaukee area as well as served as adjunct faculty at Milwaukee School of Engineering, Marquette, MATC, Lakeland and Mount Mary Universities.
She is a certified teacher of English as a second language and has a particular interest in refugee adjustments and international adoption, having children from both Senegal and Korea.
